The document, “Managing the White Space: Guiding Principles for Senior Administrators” was shaped and revised by the MVNU president and Senior Leadership Team to place in writing what had been shared by the university administrators previously in discussions. It is an attempt to go beyond the traditional “organizational Chart” with “boxes” identifying who reported to whom in the administrative structure.
The need was to “Manage the White Space” in the organizational chart and outline the relationships between positions within and outside the organizational structure.
The guiding principles and procedures focus on the senior administrators and their relationship with the MVNU president, other members in the Administrative Cabinet, Divisional personnel and other university colleagues and constituents. Administrative areas discussed in the document highlight administrative leadership, communication, empowerment, and accountability/assessment.
